Overview
AltAlly ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our AI-powered alt text generation service.
Information We Collect
Google Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your name (if provided)
- Your Google profile picture (if available)
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use our service:
- Images you upload for alt text generation
- Generated alt text and any edits you make
- Usage patterns and service performance metrics
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve our alt text generation service
- To authenticate your account and provide personalized features
- To save your generation history and preferences
- To analyze usage patterns and improve our AI models
- To provide customer support
Data Storage and Security
Your data is securely stored using Supabase infrastructure with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- To provide the service (e.g., Google AI for processing)
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect our rights and safety
AltAlly Browser Extension
This section applies to the AltAlly Chrome extension.
What the extension processes
- Website content (images): when you click "Generate", "Improve", or "Describe visuals", the selected image (or an image you upload) is sent to an AI provider — NVIDIA (integrate.api.nvidia.com) or Google Gemini — solely to produce a text description. Images are not stored by us and are not used for any other purpose.
- Page scans: the accessibility audit (finding images, videos, and embeds that lack text alternatives) runs entirely on your device. Scan results never leave your browser unless you generate alt text for a specific image.
- Settings and usage counts: your preferences, optional API keys, and daily usage counts are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device.
What the extension does not do
- It does not collect your browsing history
- It does not collect personal information, credentials, or communications
- It does not track clicks, keystrokes, or behavior
- It does not sell or share any data with third parties beyond the AI providers named above, which act only as processors for the image you explicitly submit
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and data
- Export your data
Google OAuth
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use your Google account information to authenticate you and provide our service.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
